High flows have made fishing tough this last week on the Truckee. If you worked hard you would still catch a few fish, but nothing like it was the week before. Today flows subsided and M.J. came up to do a Miracle Mile float with me. M.J showed up with a 12 pack of Coors some fried chicken and a great smile. Some nice rainbows were landed and some very big ones did not reach the boat. Another great day on the T. Previous in the week: Larry and I made an excursion out to the upper L.T., and Milton Lake. The water is still way to high both at Milton, and the Little Truckee. Believe it or not, Larry did hook a nice rainbow on the S.F. worm.

Old "Sawmill" Joe and I did a float through what we call the "Miracle Mile" today. This certain stretch of river has produced a lot of nice fish for us over the years including Joe's 25" inch brown he caught a few Springs ago on a Skawalla dry. Today Joe hooked a nice brown well over 18" on a March Brown dry, but just couldn't turn him in the heavy water. We both had some descent hookups, I landed a nice brown on a M.B. nymph. The funny thing was Joe had three fish come and eat his indicator, one fish four times! These were not small fish either. We switched to a big dry, but I guess we needed trapped air technology flies. This whole week has been great on the river. I'm still thinking of the one I lost on Monday. What a great day with a great friend.

I thought I would walk down behind my house today and mess around for an hour or so. The river has cleared up pretty well so I thought I might dead drift a sculpin at the top the run. After about three casts I started stripping it in and wham!, off this guy went. He took me 75 yards downstream in about 30 seconds. This was one of the hardest fighting most powerfull browns I have caught on the Truckee.
